2016 Martin Luther King, Jr. National Service Day Celebrations

Branches once again celebrated and honored Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 18th, 2016 through a day of community service in Florida City and South Miami. Branches Florida City’s staff, AmeriCorps members and volunteers spent the day beautifying South Dade through several painting, planting and performing arts projects.

On Saturday, Feb. 13th Branches South Miami will host the 3rd Annual “MLK Remix” from 11am-4pm at the Bethel-Gibson Community Center, 5800 SW 66th St., South Miami. MLK Remix will feature the South Miami MLK Parade in the morning followed by a free outdoor festival designed to promote peace and understanding in our community through education and the arts. The festival will include several live performances including DJ Smoov, kid-friendly hip-hop dance, karate, yoga and boot camp classes, as well as hands-on activities like arts & crafts. Children can also enjoy face painting and bounce houses.
